This is the easiest and most efficient way of helping us. Before arriving at Galgo Freedom, all our galgos are thoroughly checked by our trustworthy vet. That means having vet expenses. We buy the medicine directly from the distributing company to cut on costs.

Most galgos have health problems, most of the times treatable and curable, but visiting the vet and buying the treatments also cost money. Sometimes extraordinary expenses such as x-rays and surgery are needed to give the galgo the chance to have good quality of life. Most of the time galgos have been fed with small quantities of low-quality dry food, so when they arrive at Galgo Freedom they start eating Dingo as if they haden’t eaten for months. This is how we rehabilitate galgos so well in a short period of time. But each bag of dry food costs 25€! Each galgo eats one sack a month! We buy in big quantities to keep the cost low.

As you can appreciate, we try to reduce expenses as much as possible, but even so, expenses accumulate and we must keep our finances above water. If you wish to help us, you can choose to make a one-off donation or become a “Friend of Galgo Freedom” supporting our work with a monthly fee.

It’s free, easy and essential for an adopted galgo to get to it’s new home!

¿What is involved?

Taking a galgo with you as your luggage won’t cost you a penny and is very simple.
We make sure all the paperwork is in order and we only need your flight details to book the transport box on your flight. We pay for it!

We will firstly ask you for your flight details. Once we have them we will see if you are flying with a company that allows animals to travel on the hold of the plane. We will then get back to you, and if the company does transport animals, we will give you our contact details so that if you have any questions you can always contact us. We will arrange a time to meet at the airport on the day of the flight.
We will take the dog and its transport box to the airport, help you at the check-in desk and take care of you and the galgo until the last minute. We will hand you our contact details and those of the person that will pick the galgo up at the airport. As galgos always weigh more than 8 kilos they will always travel on the hold of the plane.

Once at your destination, you will pick the dog up along and carry it outside where the contact person or the adoptants will be awaiting you. You will have their telephone numbers and our, but trust us… There is always somebody waiting for you!
You hand the galgo, the box and the passport over and you can be very proud of having helped an animal in need!

As we are a very small group and we don’t have a network of trustworthy people around the different parts of Spain and England, we do not give our galgos for adoption in these two countries, as we could not assure them the best possible home. But, if you click here you will see all the galgos you can sponsor and also a list of associations who give galgos for adoption in Spain and might also do it in the UK. Click on the associations name and it will take you to their website, where you will be able to see the galgos for adoption and contact details if you want to know more.

Would you like to fundraise for our project? Be as creative and original as you want!!!
You can organize an event and try to raise funds or donated material (toys, towels and coats) for our mistreated galgos. Here are some examples of how you can fundraise:
• Is it your birthday or wedding aniversary? Is your company going to celebrate its anniversary? Is it Christmas time and you are fortunate enough to have everything you need and want to help others? Ask your family, friends and work mates to make a donation to Glago Freedom to help our galgos in need.
• Through Facebook you can organise a fundraising event and invite all your friends and relatives. It’s a fun and easy way to fundraise!
